Personal Safety Skills
In a society where violence and aggression towards healthcare workers appears to be on an upward trend, it is of paramount importance that NHS staff develop an understanding of the tools and techniques needed to avoid or deal with challenging behaviour before personal safety is compromised.
Led by our highly experienced team of conflict resolution and self defence instructors, this fun and interactive course will leave you feeling fully confident in your ability to handle conflict positively, manage the situation where possible or take evasive action to ensure that you, your colleagues and those in your care stay safe at all times.
Key Learning Objectives
- Understand how to recognise the warning signs
- Develop awareness of your surroundings and learn how to avoid dangerous situations
- Use communication skills to prevent or de-escalate conflict
- The value of effective positioning, breakaway techniques and positive action
- Understand current legislation around conflict resolution and reasonable force
